Preservation Destination 2019

Free Event for ICPC Members (but you can join that day and still come!)  Click here for membership rates

Noon meal paid on your own but all behind the scenes tours are free.

A $100 Fellowship is available for a first time attender to a Preservation Destination and that person traveled over 100 miles. Click here for more information.

9:00 am – 9:30 am Black Hawk Hotel Tour:    115-119 Main Street, Cedar Falls, Iowa  50613. Since 1850, the hotel has been at this site. Mary Ann Hinman will give a walking tour and historic stories including seeing some of the room’s historic décor.

9:45 am – 10:45 am Ice House Museum: 121 Center St., Cedar Falls 50613. Opened in 1921. Julie Huffman-Klinkowitz (Collections Manager) will give a behind the scenes tour and will include personal insights on handling materials after the 2008 flood.

11:15 am – 12:15 pm University of Northern Iowa: 1227 W. 27th St., Cedar Falls, Iowa  50614. Tours led by Nathan Arndt of Rod Library to see UNI museum, Conservation Lab, Rural School Center.

12:15 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch at the UNI Union.  No travel time – across the sidewalk from the library’s front entrance.  Large variety of fast options. There is no group seating planned.

1:00 pm – 2:00 pm University of Northern Iowa Art Museum and (time permitting), the Costume Apparel Collection (across the street from each other). 

 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm Grout Museum: 503 South St, Waterloo, Iowa 50701. Nicholas Erickson (Registrar) will be conducting a behind the scenes tour.
